Community Network Center, JPIX, and AT TOKYO
Announce the Launch of a New Data Center and
Connectivity Hub in Nagoya
Building a New Model of Distributed Digital Infrastructure

Community Network Center Inc. (Headquarters: Nagoya, Aichi; Representative Director & President: Kazuhiro Yoshida; hereinafter “CNCI”), Japan Internet Xing Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President & CEO: Akihiro Tsuru; hereinafter “JPIX”), and AT TOKYO Corporation (Headquarters: Koto-ku, Tokyo; President & Chief Executive Officer: Takashi Kuwabara; hereinafter “AT TOKYO”) announce the launch of a new data center and connectivity hub in Nagoya. Operations are scheduled to commence in April 2027.

Background

Amid the expansion of the use of cloud services, content delivery services, and AI applications, demand is rapidly increasing nationwide for enhanced data and traffic processing capacity, as well as low-latency connectivity. Meanwhile, in conventional regional data centers and connectivity hubs, users have been required to individually build and secure the infrastructure required to operate their equipment and support external communications, interconnection, and traffic exchange. This results in operational and procurement challenges.

Key Features of the Initiative

Many data centers and connectivity hubs are currently concentrated in the Tokyo metropolitan and Kansai regions, and this initiative is characterized by the establishment of a new hub in Nagoya by three companies from different business domains. This approach significantly enhances user convenience and helps address operational and procurement challenges

The roles of each company in this initiative are as follows:

(1) CNCI: Provision of data center services and regional access connectivity
As a telecommunications operator in the Chubu region, CNCI will establish “CNCI Nagoya Center #1(NGO1)” in Nagoya. In addition to providing data center services equipped with monitoring and remote maintenance support, CNCI will offer regional connectivity by linking NGO1 with access lines deployed by 12 CNCI Group companies primarily across Aichi and Gifu prefectures. This will enable enterprises, municipalities, and public institutions to utilize the hub effectively.

(2) JPIX: Provision of IX services and high-capacity backbone connectivity
As an Internet Exchange (IX)*1 operator, JPIX will provide IX connectivity from this hub in the Chubu region. By leveraging high-capacity backbone lines, the hub will enable connectivity to the IX segments in Tokyo and Osaka, facilitating traffic exchange with the Tokyo metropolitan and Kansai regions, as well as efficient interconnection with diverse regional networks.

(3) AT TOKYO: Provision of ATBeX Nagoya Access Point (AP) enabling connectivity to diverse services
Leveraging its operational expertise as a data center operator, AT TOKYO will provide connectivity to a wide range of domestic and international services, including major cloud providers*2, via the ATBeX Nagoya AP. This will enable secure, low-latency access to major cloud and digital services from the hub.

This initiative will establish an environment where data center services, IX connectivity, cloud access points, and access lines are all available within a single location, reducing operational and service procurement burdens while enabling flexible, secure, and low-latency network utilization.
The three companies will continue to develop this initiative as a new model of distributed digital infrastructure.

*1 Internet Exchange (IX): A point where multiple network operators interconnect and exchange internet traffic.
*2 Major cloud providers: AWS, Google Cloud, IBM Cloud, Microsoft Azure, Oracle Cloud

About JPIX IX Services

Established in July 1997 as Japan’s first commercial IX, JPIX has operated as a neutral IX provider. In addition to the Tokyo metropolitan area, JPIX currently offers IX port services in Nagoya, Osaka, Fukuoka, and Hokkaido, allowing customers in each region to peer locally without dedicated lines to Tokyo. For redundancy in the event of large-scale disasters, multiple regional IX connections can be combined. Furthermore, JPIX infrastructure is fully redundant through optical switching, ensuring minimal impact through automatic failover in the event of equipment failure.
