AT TOKYO Launches Direct Connection Service from
ATBeX Sapporo Access Point to ATBeX Osaka Zone

AT TOKYO Corporation (Headquarters: Koto-ku, Tokyo; President and Chief Executive Officer: Tatsuya Izumida; hereinafter “AT TOKYO”) and Hokkaido Telecommunication Network Co., Inc. (Headquarters: Sapporo City, Hokkaido; President: Hiroaki Furugori; hereinafter “HOTnet”) have jointly launched a new direct connection service. This service enables direct connectivity from the ATBeX*1 Sapporo Access Point (“ATBeX Sapporo AP”), located within AT TOKYO’s Hokkaido Center #1 (HC1) at the S.T.E.P Sapporo Data Center, to the ATBeX Osaka Zone (“Osaka Zone”), utilizing HOTnet’s network connectivity solution, S.T.E.P xFunction OSAKA Connect*2.

In recent years, the growing demand for cloud connectivity driven by the advancement of digital transformation (DX) of local governments and businesses, as well as the regional expansion of data centers to support generative AI, has led to an increasing need for flexible network connections between major metropolitan areas such as Tokyo/Osaka and key regional locations.
Hokkaido, in particular, has gained attention as a strategic location for data centers supporting AI training and inference, thanks to its cooler climate and access to abundant renewable energy resources.

In response to these trends, AT TOKYO has launched a direct connection service from the ATBeX Sapporo AP to the Osaka Zone utilizing HOTnet’s S.T.E.P xFunction OSAKA Connect.
Previously, connections from the ATBeX Sapporo AP to the Osaka Zone were routed through the ATBeX Tokyo Zone, but this new service now enables a direct connection.

As a result, local governments and enterprises in Hokkaido are now able to establish closed network connections with major mega-cloud*3 providers using both the Tokyo and Osaka Zones in a redundant configuration, enabling a more reliable and efficient network environment.

Key Features of the Direct Connection Service from Sapporo AP to Osaka Zone

  • Enables access to various services available via ATBeX, including closed network connections with major mega-cloud providers in Osaka
  • Supports flexible network configurations with alternate routing via the ATBeX Tokyo Zone
  • Offers flexible contract options tailored to usage scenarios, such as bandwidth settings and usage periods
  • Supports redundant configurations with 1-path or 2-path setups

AT TOKYO and HOTnet will continue to collaborate on ATBeX services to deliver more flexible and user-friendly network environments, thereby contributing to the further growth of customers’ businesses in Hokkaido.
