OKIT’s “Lux Line” Now Connected to AT TOKYO’s “ATBeX”
Enhanced Interconnectivity Between OIX, Okinawa,
and the Tokyo Metropolitan Area
OKIT Corporation (President and Chief Executive Officer: Hitoshi Tsuchihashi; Headquarters: Nago City, Okinawa; hereinafter “OKIT”) and AT TOKYO Corporation (President and Chief Executive Officer: Tatsuya Izumida; Headquarters: Koto-ku, Tokyo; hereinafter “AT TOKYO”) announced today a partnership to interconnect OKIT’s Lux Line*1 network with AT TOKYO’s ATBeX platform*2.
Background
The continuing advancement of digital transformation (DX) has rapidly increased the demand for secure, low-latency, and cost-effective network environments, as well as the adoption of cloud services. Consequently, the need for flexible network solutions that can accommodate diverse connectivity requirements continues to grow.
OKIT, an Okinawa-based ICT support company, provides a range of services that leverage the region’s unique geographic advantages. Its Lux Line network features one of the largest backbones in Okinawa Prefecture and offers connections to the regional IX*3 in Okinawa (OIX*4), provides access to Japan’s Science Information Network (SINET6), and offers site-to-site connections through both internet-based and closed-network services.
AT TOKYO operates data centers across 13 locations in Japan, including Tokyo, Osaka, Fukuoka, and Sapporo, and serving a broad range of domestic and international clients. Its network platform, ATBeX, offers interconnections between data centers and provides connectivity to public cloud platforms and a variety of IT services.
To deliver enhanced network environments for customers in Okinawa, Tokyo, and Kanagawa, as well as for service providers in those areas, OKIT and AT TOKYO have established this interconnection by leveraging the strengths of their respective services.
Benefits of the Collaboration
The interconnection of Lux Line and ATBeX provides Lux Line customers with secure, closed-network access to public cloud services as well as on-demand connections to major domestic and international data centers, network operators, and service providers partnered with ATBeX.
At the same time, ATBeX users gain significantly improved connectivity to Okinawa through OIX and the Lux Line network. The combined use of ATBeX and Lux Line enables the development of agile and efficient networks, ranging from cloud access to inter-office backup connections that strengthen Business Continuity Planning (BCP).
OKIT and AT TOKYO are committed to fostering business innovation in Okinawa and across Japan through their ongoing collaboration on Lux Line and ATBeX.

*3 Regional IX
An Internet Exchange (IX) is infrastructure through which internet service providers (ISPs), data centers (IDCs), and international networks interconnect to exchange traffic. A regional IX refers to such infrastructure or to the function of interconnecting local ISPs and other networks to route traffic more efficiently. Establishing a regional IX can help improve network performance and enhance fault tolerance by keeping local traffic within the region.
*4 OIX
OIX is Okinawa’s regional IX service operated by OKIT. By hosting an exchange point within Okinawa Prefecture, OIX enables faster communication and reduces network costs. It also helps mitigate risks such as communication disruptions caused by traffic surges during emergencies.
