NTT East's "Multi Interconnect" Now Connected to AT TOKYO’s "ATBeX"
Enhancing Network Design Flexibility
Cost Reduction and Faster Delivery Times Enabled by the Integrated Provision of Access Lines and Public Cloud Connections

Nippon Telegraph and Telephone East Corporation (President and Chief Executive Officer: Naoki Shibutani; Headquarters: Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo; hereinafter "NTT East") and AT TOKYO Corporation (President and Chief Executive Officer: Tatsuya Izumida; Headquarters: Koto-ku, Tokyo; hereinafter "AT TOKYO") will collaborate in the fields of data centers and network services to provide infrastructure and network solutions to enterprises and organizations (the "Initiative").

Starting on March 1, 2025, NTT East's Multi Interconnect will be connected to AT TOKYO’s ATBeX, marking the first step in this Initiative. By installing NTT East's Interconnected WAN equipment within AT TOKYO's data centers, this new collaboration aims to reduce both initial and operational costs for customers, while also shortening service delivery times.

1. Background and Objectives of the Initiative

With the growing demand for digital transformation (DX), companies considering full-scale adoption of public cloud services—such as integrating cloud services with business systems or utilizing a hybrid model of private and public clouds—are seeking secure and stable cloud and communication solutions.

NTT East is advancing the REIWA Project*1, which aims to co-create a regional circular society. As part of this project, REIWA Access*2 offers Multi Interconnect*3 that enables connections to a variety of network services, including diverse access lines and public cloud services.

AT TOKYO operates data centers across 13 locations in Japan, including Tokyo, Osaka, and Fukuoka, offering world-class data center services. AT TOKYO’s network platform service, ATBeX*4, enables direct connections to major public cloud providers, including AWS, Google Cloud, and Microsoft Azure, as well as other service providers.

This Initiative will accelerate the digital transformation of customers by leveraging the combined resources and expertise of both companies to provide connectivity between public cloud services and data centers via Multi Interconnect.

2. Details of the Collaboration

Cloud Interconnection is a key feature of NTT East’s Multi Interconnect service, allowing for connections to public clouds through affiliated exchange service (Ex-service) providers and to their data centers. The integration of Cloud Interconnection with ATBeX will begin on March 1, 2025. From that date onward, customers using NTT East's network will have the flexibility to connect to public clouds and interconnect with other customers in AT TOKYO’s data centers via ATBeX, improving overall usability.

Furthermore, by installing NTT East's Interconnected WAN equipment in AT TOKYO's data centers, the lead time for providing Interconnected WAN lines will be significantly reduced.

Cost Reduction Through Cloud Interconnection and Collaboration Details with AT TOKYO

Until now, customers were required to sign three separate contracts to establish closed connections to public cloud services:
1. Access lines from customer sites
2. Data center connection lines
3. Public cloud connection services

With Cloud Interconnection, the need for the second contract (data center connection lines) is eliminated, reducing both initial and operational costs for customers.

Additionally, by connecting to AT TOKYO’s ATBeX, the range of available Ex-services expands, allowing customers to select the optimal connections to public clouds and data centers according to their specific needs.

Deployment of Interconnected WAN Equipment in AT TOKYO's Data Centers

Previously, setting up new lines within AT TOKYO's data centers required on-site surveys and construction work. This collaboration eliminates these steps by utilizing pre-installed NTT East equipment within AT TOKYO's data centers, significantly reducing service activation time.
