AT TOKYO and Cable Networks Akita
to Start a Proof-of-Concept Experiment for Closed Connection
to Cloud-Based Cable Television Subscriber Management System DCBEE via ATBeX

AT TOKYO Corporation (Headquarters: Koto-ku, Tokyo, President and Chief Executive Officer: Tatsuya Izumida; hereinafter "AT TOKYO") and Cable Networks Akita Co., Ltd (Headquarters: Akita City, Akita, President and Chief Executive Officer: Kenji Suehiro; hereinafter "Cable Networks Akita") will conduct a proof-of-concept experiment^*1 using AT TOKYO's ATBeX^*2 for a closed connection to the cable television subscriber management system DIGITAL CableBase EE (hereinafter "DCBEE") which is built on a public cloud infrastructure.
This proof-of-concept is scheduled to be conducted from August 1 through to the end of October 2024.

DCBEE is a business management software widely used in Japan’s cable television industry, provided by NEC Networks & System Integration Corporation (hereinafter "NESIC"). It is a business process reengineering solution that enables unified management and streamlined business processes, empowering cable television operators to enhance customer satisfaction, improve business efficiency, and make swift decision-making.

Currently, Cable Networks Akita connects to the DCBEE using an IPsec VPN over the internet. This proof-of-concept experiment aims to connect to the cloud-based system using ATBeX in a closed environment, and is expected to enhance the availability of business communications, communication quality due to guaranteed bandwidth, as well as improvements in security.

Cable Networks Akita is also considering using ATBeX to support the on-premises storage of DCBEE backup data for business continuity and cybersecurity purposes, as well as building a multi-region recovery infrastructure to prepare for major disasters utilizing the wide-area platform of ATBeX. These initiatives will help Cable Networks Akita to deliver more secure and higher-quality services to their customers.

Furthermore, the provision of closed connections to the DCBEE via ATBeX may offer more options for enhanced stability and added value services to other DCBEE users and cable television operators nationwide, compared to the connections using IPsec VPN on the internet line.

Configuration of the Proof-of-Concept Experiment

AT TOKYO and Cable Networks Akita will leverage this proof-of-concept experiment for future service development, aiming to provide better services for their respective customers.
