AT TOKYO Data Centers Received the Grand Prize
of Electricity Use Rationalization Committee Chairman's Award

AT TOKYO Corporation (Headquarters: Koto-ku, Tokyo, President & Chief Executive Officer: Akira Nakamura; (hereinafter referred to as "AT TOKYO") is pleased to announce its Chuo Data Center (CC1) and Chuo Data Center #2 (CC2) won the Grand Prize of Electricity Use Rationalization Committee Chairman's Award.

The Electricity Use Rationalization Committee, comprising 10 regional committees across Japan, is an organization participated by the Bureaus of Economy, Trade and Industry, electric power companies, private consumers, etc. The Kanto Region Electricity Use Rationalization Committee, from which we received the award, conducts projects to promote rational electricity use among consumers in the Kanto region. The committee awards the Grand Prize, Superior Prize, and Excellent Prize to businesses with outstanding achievements in rationalization of electricity consumption.

AT TOKYO, as a data center operator that consumes a large amount of electricity on a daily basis, has been promoting global warming countermeasures, and each one of our employees has been engaged in energy conservation actions with consideration to the environment.
With our motto "No stoppage of AT TOKYO's services," we have been focusing on the two competing goals of promoting energy saving measures and upholding the customers’ trust in our operations.
We are extremely honored to have been awarded the prize for the first time in the recognition of such efforts.

2. Data centers awarded

1) AT TOKYO Chuo Data Center (CC1), Grand Prize, Target Case:
Implemented in FY2019

Reduced electricity and water consumption by replacing existing water-cooled packaged air conditioners upon renewal with highly efficient air-cooled packaged air conditioners.
Improved overall efficiency with these new air conditioner units as they do not necessitate cooling water piping, cooling towers, or auxiliary equipment.
Loss reduction by removing the 400V to 200V three-phase transformer and installing the new 400V packaged air-conditioner.

2) AT TOKYO Chuo Data Center #2 (CC2), Grand Prize, Target Case:
Implemented in FY2019

The heat exchanger capacity became insufficient due to growing server load. Increased the heat exchanger capacity to enable free cooling, as pre-cooling was required even when the free cooling operation was possible.
Reduced power consumption by allowing free cooling.

*Load loss is the resistive loss caused in the transformer windings due to load current. No-load loss is the core loss of the magnetic flux.
