New JPNAP Connection Point Established in AT TOKYO
Providing a Stable, High Volume Internet Exchange Service - Operations to Commence in April 2017
Tokyo, Jan. 2017 ---- AT TOKYO Corporation (Headquartered in Koto-ku, Tokyo, President and Chief Executive Officer: Akira Nakamura, and hereinafter referred to as “AT TOKYO”) announces that Internet Multifeed Co. (Headquartered in Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, President and Chief Executive Officer: Koichi Suzuki, and hereinafter referred to as “Internet Multifeed”) will both establish a new connection point within AT TOKYO’s Chuo Data Center (hereinafter referred to as “CC1”), and hence commence the provision of internet exchange services (JPNAP*1 ) from April 2017.
The establishment of the JPNAP service connection point enables AT TOKYO to become one of the leading data centers in Japan, hosting an accumulation of connection points for important domestic IX businesses.
Presently in Japan, there are only a limited number of data centers that host connection points to domestic and international networks (including the internet), and these are all concentrated into a small area. Also, in the service industries where connectivity to Internet Exchanges*2 (hereinafter referred to as “IX”), Internet Service Providers (hereinafter referred to as “ISP”), and content distribution networks is of huge importance, companies engaged in expanding their business in these segments are demanding data centers with high scalability and major connectivity options.
These reasons were the drivers behind the decision to establish an Internet Multifeed JPNAP service connection point at CC1.
The JPNAP service is one of Asia’s largest internet exchange utilities*3, connecting to more than 130 networks, and featuring a maximum exchange traffic volume of over 800Gbps (as of December 2016). ISPs, data center businesses, financial institutions and companies using AT TOKYO data center services will gain access to a layer 2 IX service that enables the stable, large-volume traffic exchanges that are essential in the broadband age.
The new JPNAP service connection point will be housed at AT TOKYO’s CC1 facility, which features a total floor area of approximately 140,000 square meters and offers impressive scalability. As one of the world’s largest data centers, CC1 features an outstanding environment and connectivity that is hosted within world-class facilities, and boasts of connection points for over 20 domestic and overseas telecommunications carriers. CC1 also possesses advantages shared by all AT TOKYO data centers, including 24-hour, 365-day bilingual support in English and Japanese, and the rich operational knowledge, and hospitality unique within the data center business.
Going forward, AT TOKYO will continue to provide connection points for businesses whose operations center around IX businesses and ISP networks. In addition, by providing high-quality connection environments to all its data center users, AT TOKYO actively encourages the acceleration and expansion of customer businesses, and thereby assists in generating new wealth.
AT TOKYO is scheduled to attend the JANOG39 Meeting held by the Japan Network Operators’ Group at the Kanazawa Bunka Hall between January 18 and 20. The company will host a booth providing further information regarding the content of this press release and regarding its connection environment services.
We look forward to seeing you there.
